If you are new to our services, our Information for New Clients page may be helpful. For any additional questions, call us on 1300 007 865.
Can I use an existing referral?
Yes. Your GP or psychiatrist can update the referral to Outlook Psychology Practice and send it to us at opreferrals@opgove.com.au Medicare rebates require a referral; care plans are typically reviewed after 6 sessions and can be renewed every 12 months. Contact us if you need clarification.
What benefits can I expect from counselling?
Telehealth sessions with our psychologists, occupational therapists, or senior mental health clinicians can help you:
- Reduce confusion and gain clarity about your symptoms
- Express thoughts and feelings, feel heard and understood
- Improve emotional regulation, self-awareness, and communication
- Reduce isolation and develop healthier relationships
- Change unhelpful habits and thought patterns
- Increase life satisfaction and coping skills
Are appointments confidential?
Yes. All sessions are private and confidential unless you provide consent or there is a legal or safety obligation to breach confidentiality. Your clinician will explain this at your first session.
What is a psychologist or senior mental health clinician?
They are trained in human behaviour, assessment, and evidence-based therapies to support mental wellbeing. Psychologists and senior clinicians are AHPRA-registered, follow ethical standards, and may specialise in areas like trauma, anxiety, depression, or workplace mental health.
What if I need to cancel?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations may incur the full session fee. SMS reminders are sent 24 hours before your appointment—please respond to confirm.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your goals, motivation, and presenting concerns. Many clients notice improvements within 6 sessions. Your clinician can provide a personalised plan.
What if there’s no change during therapy?
If progress is slow, it may be due to:
- The client-clinician relationship needing strengthening
- Ambivalence about change
- Therapy approach not fully suited to your needs
Discuss any concerns with your clinician. If needed, a referral to another clinician may be arranged.
Where are you located?
